Shoulder Pain? Read What May Be The Cause And How You Can Get Relief

The shoulder joint is one of the most mobile joints in the body.  It’s surrounded by muscles, bones, tendons, and ligaments that help move your entire arm around.  Pain in the shoulder is not uncommon. It could feel like a dull, achy pain that comes and goes throughout the years.  Or it could be sudden, sharp, and severe.

Shoulder pain can be caused by a number of things such as:

  • Rotator cuff injury

  • Overuse

  • Improperly carrying a backpack

  • Frozen shoulder

  • Bursitis

  • Dislocated shoulder

  • Arthritis

If you are feeling pain in your shoulder, try these stretches:

  • Door Frame Stretch

    • Place your hands on the door frame, making a 90-degree angle with your elbows.  Place your right foot in between the door frame and your left foot behind. Press your chest toward the door frame for 30 seconds.  Switch feet and repeat for another 30 seconds.

  • Shoulder Stretch with Weights

    • Grab some weights, lay face down on a bench, and slowly bring the weights up to your sides, making sure to keep your arms straight.

  • Arm Across Chest

    • Using your left arm, pull your right arm across your chest and hold for 30 seconds.  Relax and repeat on the other side.

Your shoulder can shift out of alignment and cause muscles to pull in different directions.  This can lead to muscle spasms, inflammation, and pain.
